The Truth

We’re sorry to interrupt you from our 24-hour Spider-Man 3 coverage, but we’d like to share some breaking news:
We, the CH staff, may in fact be over Zach Braff.
We know. We KNOW! He is adorable in all his smug hipsterhood, all spiky-floppy hair and Vespa and Converse and obnoxiously good taste in music. We love Converse! We adore the Shins! And yet…we see the ads for his new movie, The Ex, and he might be our least favorite thing about it, cast-wise. Did we know, three or so years ago, that Jason Bateman would ultimately win out in a like-off with The Braff? We did not. Did we also know, even one year ago, that we would want to be Amanda Peet’s best friend? A bit of a shock to all of us, frankly. And yet. Suddenly, we worry that The Braff will not transition well into full-fledged manhood. Perhaps permanent puberty is his peak? (Preposterous!) (Sorry about that.)
Anyway, we shall see. Maybe Peet will bring out in The Braff a brilliance we haven’t seen since Rowdy disappeared from Scrubs. We hope? Don’t leave us, Permanently-20s Braff!
We now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

I said it once, and I’ll say it again. Garden State was boring.

hee. But noooo! Although I have to admit I feel the same way. Not based on the previews, but based on the fact that I stopped watching Scrubs this year, and still have yet to see “The Ex.” But me! Stopped. Watching. Scrubs. WTF? I love this show. I mean, season 1 to 5? Brilliant. Love every minute. Stupid musical with songs about poop. Totally ruined me. I raise you, Permanently-20s Braff and call for Come Back, Scrub, come back! Or something. *sigh.* Oh, Good Scrubs. I miss you.

Sarah,
I knew you’d be writing in about this. Because I know that you see the tragedy here. He used to be so likeable, and now Scrubs has sort of stopped being funny (though I could be wrong; I haven’t watched at all this season. And I did see the rerun tonight where Turk does his lip-synch dance to “Poison,” which is one of my favorite things ever), and he’s not as charming as he once was.
Permanently-20s Braff? Maybe you should take awhile and examine your priorities. Figure out what you’re going to do next. Do a Clooney, you know? Morph from being It-Guy to being Smart-Guy-Who-Knows-What-To-Do-With-His-Fame.
