Sex and the Why?

So, it seems that the ‘verse is all a-chatter about Jennifer Hudson joining the cast of the Sex and the City movie. Now, based purely on her awards-show persona, I’m all about Jennifer Hudson, and wouldn’t mind being her friend and having sleepovers where we talk about boys and braid each other’s hair. (America Ferrera and Jennifer Garner can come, too. Come on over, girls! I’ll make cupcakes!) But it seems to the staff here at CH that nobody’s really getting to the heart of the matter: Who wants to watch a Sex and the City movie in the first place?

I mean, I like the SatC girls as much as the next person, as long as the next person is somebody who likes the SatC girls a whole lot. Sure, their (okay, Carrie’s) outfits are part of the comedy, and nobody in my neck of the woods lives quite that much of a Manolo-and-martini-obsessed existence, but isn’t that half the fun and half the point? What I’m trying to say is that I am pro-Sex and the City. But isn’t the story kind of…over? I loved the finale. I loved the journeys the characters had taken, I loved the tiny joys and little ironies of how everything worked out. And I’m just not sure I need one (?) last, discrete, two-hour episode.

On the other hand, it might be a little like getting together for one last brunch with some old friends, and I can’t knock that.

Who wants to see a SaTC movie? I do! It’s me!
I admit, at first I was like you - the finale was perfect, the story is over, what’s left to tell? But then I was listening to a podcast where they were talking about it, and it was suggested that the only thing they could really do with the movie is show Carrie and Big’s wedding. Now, I don’t know if this is the plot - I haven’t checked it on IMBD yet, but if it is, I am there. Also, I love Steve, and Steve and Miranda, and if they are in a movie, I am there.

Sarah, I guess I see what you mean (but possibly because I know you feel the same way I do about it). The wedding might be interesting, although I’m not clear on what kind of plot would grow out of that. But, you know, they’re writers. They’ll figure something out.

Also: I love Steve and Steve and Miranda, too. (Also, the way Miranda’s storyline ended? Tears. No lie.)

  4. Sarah Says:

I get tears just thinking about the way Miranda’s storyline ended. And Magda, and I loved that Magda was there, because she had seen Miranda from the (almost) beginning. And her line, “What you did, that’s love.” Ohh the tears!

  5. Stacy Says:

I will be there opening night to see this film. I still watch the re-runs on TBS. I really feel in love with this show and the characters, and I’ll watch whatever they send my way. Also, some of those outfits aren’t comedy. That’s fashion baby. It’s expression that you don’t get at the GAP.
