Reader Participation: The Potter Question

by

We at CHHQ realize that today is not the best day to be talking about film. After all, Monday may be the first day of the work week, but to millions of people, it’s just Day 3 of the end of Harry Potter. (Or, to be more correct–since we’re spoiler-free and haven’t even started the thing anyway–the end of the Harry Potter series. Excuse us.)

But we have a very important question to ask. After all, the Harry Potter books aren’t the entirety of the universe; there are now five whole films to choose from. So, lest we distract anybody from their Potter headspace:

What is your favorite Harry Potter movie, and why?

I’m really a #3 fan myself. Beautiful, dramatic, not too dark. And not as rushed feeling as the later ones.

I think that’s a pretty common viewpoint–it really is a beautiful movie. I have to admit that I’ve only seen it once, but I remember liking it except that it glossed over a lot of the plot. It doesn’t bother me as much in the other movies, but #3 is my favorite of the books, so I think I’m more sensitive about it.

I think #3 was the best. It certainly *looked* better than all of them. And the kids aged well in that one. However, I did like #4 a lot because I laughed. And, well, Voldemort coming back to life was pretty horrific. #4 was also my favorite book (though it’s hard to say now that I’ve re-read them all before getting #7).
