Quotation Sensation: Play Ball! Edition

by

And again we find ourselves face to face—blessedly—with the weekend, which means it’s Quotation Sensation day. Are you ready to play? I SAID, ARE YOU READY TO PLAY?

…Sorry. My Paula Abdul’s Get Up and Dance workout video rears its head yet again. It won’t happen again.

Probably.

Anyway, were are the rules: I will post a quotation from a movie. The first person to comment with the character, actor, and film that contains this quotation gets a special eyelash batting and a tailor-made Cinema Hype cheer, which might actually rhyme, even if it doesn’t make any sense. Reader Stephanie staged a thrilling victory over last week’s Sensation, from the 1951 animated Alice in Wonderland.

In honor of March, and warm days in Florida and Arizona:

“‘I was gonna put the ball back.’
‘But it was signed by Babe Ruth!’
‘Yeah, you keep telling me that! Who is she?’
‘WHAT? WHAT?’
‘The sultan of swat!’
‘The king of crash!’
‘The colossus of clout!’
‘The colossus of clout!’
‘BABE RUTH!’
‘THE GREAT BAMBINO!’
‘Oh, my god! You mean that’s the same guy?’”

Think you’ve got the answer? Leave it in the comments.

  1. Stephanie Says:

In the words of Squints, “You’re killing me, Smalls…”

I feel as if it’s cheating to know two in a row. I’m much more confident about this movie. My sisters made me watch it so many times that I thought I had it memorized. This is a quote from The Sandlot. If my sisters were awake right now I’d send them here to join in the fun, but (lucky for them) they’re asleep at the moment…

Liz, they’ll be thrilled to know you’ve included this movie in the game!

  2. Liz Says:

Hey! Two in a row! You rule—and your prize will be up shortly.

I almost chose the s’mores scene, but I figured that was way too obvious. Heh.
