All-Time Top Six Reasons I Want to See Zodiac

1. A great trailer: atmospheric, mildly creepy, and probably underplaying the extent to which the film will actually traumatize me. Just the waaaaay I like ‘em.

2. Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, and Mark Ruffalo all agreeing to appear in one big extravaganza of awesome. (Note the lack of cheating by combining them into a single bullet point, though each probably deserves his own.)

3. Personal geography: The first Zodiac killings took place in my home town (Lake Herman Road, represent!).

4. Directed by David Fincher, who appears to know his way around the suspense genre.

5. Jon Stewart asking Gyllenhaal last week about Arthur Leigh Allen, who was long suspected to be the Zodiac Killer, but was never charged and was officially cleared after his death in 1992 (Points off for Gyllenhaal looking at Stewart like he’d grown two heads, though).

6. It looks good, fair and square: snappy script, good casting, and plenty of suspense (but no gore?). Pre-viewing thumbs-up.

  1. Ben Says:

V-Town and Benicia - home of psycho killers (and killas) for over forty years. Represent indeed! I just want to see if they can work in Sac’s Hot Dogs in some macabre ketchup scene…
